Temptation[']s Is a Part of Life

In 1991, Corina sang, "Temptation is a part of life / It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right." Clearly, the owners of this shop in Downtown Crossing took Corina's advice to heart. They don't care if their punctuation is wrong or right.

We've got unnecessary quotation marks on the awning and an errant apostrophe in the neon sign. If the name on the awning also contained an apostrophe, one could argue that this take-away was named after someone named Temptation. Um... I don't think so.

As you may have guessed from my use of the word take-away in the previous paragraph, I'm a bit of an Anglophile. A couple of my friends sent me a link to this hilarious news story about punctuation from England. Enjoy!

Temptation is my...middle name.

I wish you'd mentioned the lack of a hyphen in "award winning salads." But we differ on the importance of this issue, I guess. :)

J, you're right. Technically, there should be a hyphen there, but it doesn't bother me that much when the compound adjective is in a title or a headline. It bothers me more in running text.

This blog owes its existence to my once yielding to temptation.

In addition to the mistakes you mentioned in your post, shouldn't "award winning" be hyphenated? I mean, it's not like there is an *award* that is actually *winning salads* itself...you know? :)

Yes, that phrase should include a hyphen. Jess pointed that out, too.

so basically they obviously haven't won any awards.
