My cousin sent me this apostrophe catastrophe from the parking lot of a Sheraton in Warwick, Rhode Island.
He says he would expect to see this kind of sloppy punctuation at a Super 8 but not a Sheraton.
I have been noticing a lot of confusion between its and it's lately. I think a lot of people think that they should include an apostrophe to show possession, but its is already a possessive pronoun.

I wonder if it's time to give up on this one. It's now rarer to see its/it's used correctly than incorrectly. Sigh.
I don't understand how people keep getting its and it's confused. Don't they think it sounds funny if they said 'it is contents'? Or, maybe they just don't know that it's is a contraction of it is, or it has. And the worst thing is I see this on status updates on Facebook by people I know who are teachers!
Or it could mean "hotel not responsible for your vehicle, or it is contents", in which case it could be a bit of an extreme punishment.
